Willowhurst – Priors Hall Park Case Study
HENRAD EVEREST LINE RADIATORS – THE PERFECT ACCOMPANIMENT FOR
AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS AT NEW DEVELOPMENT
A highly specified new housing development from house builder Francis Jackson near Corby, Northamptonshire is benefitting from sparkling and highly effective heating systems based on Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pumps with pre-plumbed FTC5 cylinders for the hot water, paired with underfloor heating on the ground floor and Henrad Everest Line radiators upstairs in the homes.
Willowhurst is set within 14 acres of woodland at Priors Hall Park and has been Highly Commended in the 2020 Housebuilder Awards and shortlisted for the Central LABC Building Excellence Awards 2020.
Construction Director for Francis Jackson Homes is Andy Herbert: “The use of radiators on the first floor combined with underfloor heating on the ground floor is pretty much our standard specification. Radiators upstairs with wireless thermostat controls give our purchasers flexibility and efficiency with the option to use TRVs to control temperatures in each room, or not to heat rooms that maybe spare rooms or infrequently used. Given the contemporary look and feel of our homes, we chose Henrad Everest Line to give us a cleaner and simpler look to complement this overall modern feel.”
As well as making these homes as attractive as they can, the company is using air source heat pumps in its standard specification to future proof its homes, taking into consideration recent Government announcement that with effect from 2025 – not far in the future – fossil fuelled heating systems will be outlawed in new build developments. Andy Herbert says: “Air source heat pumps efficiency appeals to many purchasers with environmental awareness and concerns. There is definitely a ‘perceived value’ with regards to air source heat pumps. And clearly, they help with our Building Regulations approvals and SAP calculations.”
Henrad Everest Line radiators are increasingly being selected by new homes builders up and down the country. As part of the Stelrad Radiator Group, Henrad has a highly respected pedigree. Within the current portfolio, the Compact steel panel range is unsurpassed, offering over 140 variants to meet developers’ specific needs. And, representing the demand for leading edge design, the Verona, Everest Line, Alto Line and Column styles are already well established. There are also plenty of variants that now include the option of stylish modern colourways to further enhance feature rooms in the home.
“We’re delighted that the Everest Line has been chosen for these homes and particularly pleased that again, they are being paired with air source heat pumps,” says Stelrad’s Chris Harvey. “We too are future proofing our radiators for the future and we are confident that in well insulated homes, if sized properly, our radiators are ‘fit for the future’ as we move into a phase where renewable heating systems are set to take over and replace traditional boiler driven heating systems. This is the case in all new and an increasing number of older homes needing replacement heating systems with radiators still the way to share heat around the home.”
